Biography
Piotr Gluszko is Professor of Medicine and Head of the Department of Rheumatology at the National Institute of Geriatrics, Rheumatology and Rehabilitation, Warsaw, Poland. He obtained his medical degree from the Faculty of Medicine, Copernicus Medical Academy, Cracow, Poland in 1975. He received his training in internal medicine at the Jagiellonian University Hospital in Cracow. In 1983-84 and 1990/91 he got training appointment as a research associate at the University of Pennsylvania Medical School, Philadelphia, USA. In 1991 he obtained specialisation in clinical rheumatology in Warsaw at the Institute of Rheumatology. In years 1991- 2010 he was appointed Associate Professor and Head of the Rheumatology Unit at the Jagiellonian University, Medical College in Cracow. Professor Gluszko attained his PhD at Jagiellonian University in 1999. He is involved in basic and clinical research on the inflammatory rheumatic diseases, blood vessel and coagulation disorders, and secondary osteoporosis. Since 1976 Piotr Gluszko has been continuously engaged in patient care and teaching of internal medicine, rheumatic and bone diseases. Professor Gluszko has published over 150 articles and book chapters in the field of internal medicine, rheumatology and osteoporosis.
